ELEGY's Parry Speaks Out On "Pain", Records ZEPPELIN Cover

Dutch prog-metallers ELEGY are still hard at work on the material for the band's ninth CD, entitled Principles Of Pain, which is scheduled to be recorded during the next couple of months in Madrid, Spain for for release via Marquee Records in Japan and Asia in April, and Locomotive Music in the rest of the world in May. According to vocalist Ian Parry, "the [lyrical subject matter covered on Principles Of Pain] will belove, relationships and all matters of the heart. This is why the title is called Principles of Pain, meaning the pain and suffering we encounter in our lives as we experience the true meaning of life. ELEGY decided not to do a concept album and [instead wanted to] write about a subject which fans all over the world could relate to easily. The music is technical, like previous ELEGY albums and stays in a progressive power metal style, containing two ballads, two neo-classical up-tempo double bass drum tracks, a slow heavy metal guitar riff theme with a great groove, and many mid-tempo melodic metal tracks, with catchy chorus lines". Principles Of Pain will once again feature the services of French guitarist Patrick Rondat, who joined band during the recording of last year's Forbidden Fruit CD. In related news, Parry's CONSORTIUM PROJECT has finished recording a version of LED ZEPPELIN's The Immigrant Song for an upcoming LED ZEPPELIN tribute CD, to be issued via Locomotive Music in the spring. Recorded at KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo's Above The C Studio in Tampa, the track features special appearances by Grillo and HALFORD guitarist Mike Chlasciak. As-yet-untitled, the tribute CD will also include contributions from such artists as DORO, ANNIHILATOR, BLAZE, SAVATAGEMOTORHEAD, the new band of ex-HELLOWEEN guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch, GAMMA RAY, GRAVE DIGGER and JIMMY PAGE AND THE BLACK CROWES.
